Keeping your Internet browser up-to-date is important for both security and ensuring that web pages load properly. We also recommend that you update any plug-ins, extensions, or other add-ons you have installed. Use the System Information script to detect and update your browser plug-ins.
The following document covers the steps required to update your browser. Select your browser from the list below and follow the instructions.
Microsoft Edge
The Microsoft Edge browser is tied to Windows 10 and consequently, so are its updates. To update the Edge browser, you need to update Windows with the steps below.
- Press the Windows Key, type Check for updates, and then press Enter.
- Under the Update status section, select Check for updates.
Internet Explorer
Microsoft updates Internet Explorer using its Windows update feature. As long as you are regularly installing the latest Windows updates from Microsoft, you should have the latest version of Internet Explorer.
TipAutomatic updates are always enabled in Windows 10. Microsoft Edge, which replaces Internet Explorer in Windows 10, will be kept up-to-date automatically.

If you do not have Windows automatic updates enabled in Windows 8 and earlier versions, you need to update Internet Explorer on your computer manually by following these steps:
- Open the Control Panel.
- Click on and open the Windows Update utility.
- In the left navigation pane, click the Check for updates link.
- You can choose to install all available updates or select the updates you want to install.
Chrome
Google Chrome will update automatically as new iterations are released to the public. To verify that your version of Chrome is the latest or update it manually, follow these steps:
- Open the Google Chrome browser.
- Click the Customize and control Google Chrome button in the upper-right corner of the screen.
- From the drop-down menu that appears, select Help, then select About Google Chrome.
- The window that appears will automatically check for updates and show you the current version of Chrome. If an update is available, Chrome will be updated automatically. After Chrome is updated, click the RELAUNCH option to restart Chrome and complete the update.
Users may enter the chrome://chrome/ into the omnibox (Chrome address bar) to achieve the same result.

Chrome on Android tablet or phone
On an Android tablet or phone, the Chrome browser should automatically get updated. The Android operating system will keep standard apps, like the Chrome browser, automatically updated to the latest version. However, if automatic updates are not working, you can access the Google Play app on your Android device to check for an updated version of the Chrome browser.
Firefox
Mozilla Firefox should automatically download updates and prompt you when they are available to install. To verify that your version of Firefox is the latest or update it manually, follow these steps:
- Open the Mozilla Firefox browser.
- Click the Open menu button in the upper-right corner of the screen.
- In the menu that appears, click the Help option at the bottom.
- Select About Firefox.
- The window that appears will automatically check for updates and show you the current version of Firefox. If an update is available, you can click the Update to [version number] button to install the update, where 'version number' is the latest version of Firefox.

Safari
If you have Apple updates turned on, Safari should stay up-to-date automatically. To verify that your version of Safari is the latest or update manually, follow these steps:
- Open the Apple menu and choose App Store.
- At the top of the window that appears, click the Updates button in the toolbar.
- Find Safari and click Update (or click Update all to update every app).

Safari on iPad or iPhone
On an iPad or iPhone, the Safari browser should automatically get updated. The iOS operating system will keep standard apps, like the Safari browser, automatically updated to the latest version. However, if automatic updates are not working, you can access the App Store on your iPad or iPhone and check the Updates section to see if a Safari update is available to download.
Opera
Opera should update itself automatically. However, if you would like to check the version or update manually, follow these steps:
- Open Opera web browser.
- Click the Opera icon in the top-left corner of the window.
- Select About Opera from the drop-down menu that appears.
- If updates are available, they will be installed automatically.

Other browsers
There are other Internet browsers available and in use today and we are not able to provide the steps to update each and every one. If your browser is not listed above, below are some general tips for how to upgrade your browser.
- Check the Help menu or look in the browser's main menu for a Help section. The update utility for a browser is often found in the Help section.
- If no Help section is found, check the browser's main menu for a section labeled Update or Upgrade.
- If you cannot find a Help, Update, or Upgrade section in your browser, visit the website for the developer of the browser. The developer's website often have a browser update option on their website.

Why should you update Google Chrome?
Most software developers release some program updates from time to time to make their program secure, useful and up to date. These updates may contain some security patches, new features etc.

In this post, I am going to show you how to find that what version of Chrome you are using and how to update your favorite Chrome browser.
Before update your Chrome Browser, you need to find or check, does your computer have the latest version of Google Chrome? or what version of Google Chrome do you have? because Chrome automatically updates to the latest version. And if you have the latest version of Chrome, there is no need to update it manually. If your Chrome browser unable to self-update due to any reason like firewall protection or poor internet connectivity etc, then you have to update it manually.

You can easily check the version number of your chrome browser and whether it is up to date or not. just follow this simple steps:
First open Google Chrome on your computer, then find the 'Menu' button. It appears on the top right corner and just below the close button of your browser. As shown in the below image, there three vertical dots. Actually, these three dots are are the symbol of Chrome's Menu Button.

Just click on the button to view the Chrome's drop-down Menu. Then click on the 'Help' option (Listed in the second row from the bottom of the menu). After clicking on help, you will see another new pop-up window. And now click on 'About Google Chrome' option in the new pop-up menu. As shown in the picture below.

How to update your Chrome Browser:
Chrome developers release some important updates from time to time like security patches and other bug fixes. And it is very important to update your browser to protect it from malware and other security threats. Since, whenever there is an active internet connection on the PC and if an update of Chrome becomes available, then Google Chrome automatically updates to its latest version. But, if your browser is unable to update automatically, then you can update it manually.
First, you need to check the current version of your chrome browser using the simple steps already mentioned above. After clicking on About Google Chrome,Chrome will automatically check for any available update and try to download and install that.
